The second Saturday of every month we meet @the Bonner Springs Library from 1pm – 3pm. We host special author guests, writing days, conference prep sessions, and contest crits. If you’re a fiction writer in the KC metro please join us.
I just joined the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators, SCBWI.
Here’s a link to my new speaker profile on their site.
I’ve been a member of American Christian Fiction writers (ACFW) since December 2010. I love the mounds of resources at my fingertips. And my local group is inspiring. I hate to miss a single meeting. It’s definitely worth the price of admission.
Come check out my new Facebook author page. Just click on the sidebar.
My Twitter handle is @HartzlerBarbara.
I’m also on Pinterest and Goodreads.
Unlike some people, I do like to unplug and have a life outside of the world wide web. However, I will certainly entertain all arguments to the contrary. Make your case.

Confessions from An Author Event: 3 Surprising Secrets on Leaving Your Comfort Zone.
Next Up: BOOK LAUNCH
Still working out the details for my upcoming book party, blog tour, and book signings. Stay tuned right here. I’ll keep you posted.
From Aspiring Writer to Full-fledged author:
In case you haven’t read my post, My First Book Contract, here’s the scoop–I just landed my first book contract with OakTara for my teen paranormal romance The Nexis Secret. The editor there worked with my all-time favorite author, Madeleine L’Engle. Needless to say, I’m totally psyched and ready to get started.
Here’s what’s on the agenda:
- Think about adding an author video, whatever that means
- Update web site: IN PROGRESS!
- Reached Round 2 of ABNA 2014
- Semi-Finaled in the YA category of the 2012 Genesis Contest
- Second Place in the Port Yonder Press 1,000 word short story contest
- Third Place in the Port Yonder Press 1,500 word short story contest
